5% Ghee-ST heralds relief and big Diwali celebrations

In a big boost to Indian households, the government is bringing down the rates of common goods by reducing the Goods and Services Tax (GST). The Modi government publicised it as a 'Historic Diwali Gift for the Nation'. Ghee, milk and other dairy products are synonymous with Indian festivals, and the relief comes amid India digging its heels on the dairy and farm sector in trade talks with the US.
