According to oncosurgeon Dr. Meghal Sanghavi, these side effects are not a sign of the cancer's return but are a common result of treatments like chemotherapy, which attack rapidly dividing cells, including hair follicles. Dr. Sanghavi clarifies that patients can experience these effects even with positive reports because their bodies are healing from the therapy. He advises managing hair loss with gentle scalp care, a protein-rich diet, and, in some cases, scalp cooling caps. He stresses that side effects are usually temporary and do not indicate a relapse, and he encourages patients to rely on medical reports and consult their oncologist for any new symptoms.
