Guru Arjan Dev ji’s birth anniversary celebrated in Amritsar

Devotees across the world gathered to remember the life and teachings of Guru Arjan Dev on the occasion of his birth anniversary at the Golden Temple on Thursday. Guru Arjan Dev ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, was born on April 9, 1563. He is remembered for his humility, spiritual wisdom and service to humanity. He compiled the sacred Adi Granth, which later became the Guru Granth Sahib. His teachings promoted equality, peace and devotion to God. He also became the first Sikh martyr, sacrificing his life for religious freedom and is remembered as “Shaheedan De Sartaj.”
