Kerala govt sets up first Senior Citizens Commission in India

Kerala has established the nation's first Senior Citizens Commission. This aims to safeguard the rights of elderly citizens. K Somaprasad is the chairperson of the Thiruvananthapuram-based commission. Amaravila Ramakrishnan and others are appointed as members. The commission will address neglect and exploitation faced by the elderly. It was formed under the Kerala Senior Citizens Commission Act, 2025.
