Following allegations of fake birth certificates being issued to illegal Bangladeshis, the BMC Health Department submitted a report to Mayor Ritu Tawde stating that 116 certificates have been seized and records deleted. Twenty-five holders refused to hand over originals, while actions are pending for 96 certificates.
