Railway ticket rule: Only Aadhar-authenticated users can reserve online general ticket for first 15 minutes from Oct 1

Published on: Sept. 16, 2025, 1:40 p.m. | Source: The Economic Times

Starting October 1, 2025, Indian Railways will require Aadhaar authentication for booking reserved general tickets online via IRCTC during the first 15 minutes of booking opening. This measure aims to prevent misuse by unauthorized individuals who quickly reserve tickets on popular routes. Authorized agents can book online after the initial window, while PRS counter bookings remain unchanged.
