Inspired by Shilpa Shetty Kundra's healthy eating habits, particularly her inclusion of butter, Certified Diabetes Educator and Consultant Dietician Kanikka Malhotra highlights the metabolic advantages of homemade butter, especially when derived from grass-fed cream. Butter contains medium- and short-chain fatty acids that provide efficient energy and enhanced satiety, and grass-fed butter specifically boasts five times more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), linked to improved body composition. Crucially, it's richer in anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids and butyrate, which is highly beneficial for gut health by lowering inflammation and reducing risks of diabetes and colon cancer. Butyrate also improves mitochondrial activity, fat burning, blood sugar, cholesterol levels, and insulin sensitivity, making homemade butter a metabolically favorable choice within a balanced diet. However, Malhotra stresses that portion control is paramount and butter should always be consumed as part of a comprehensive diet and regular physical activity plan.
