Former USFDA Commissioner David Kessler in a TV interview that ultraprocessed foods pose a public health threat comparable in scale to tobacco and urged the FDA to reconsider GRAS status for certain refined ingredients. US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr., said the agency would “look into” Kessler’s petition.
