White House Asks 9 Universities To Align With Trump Priorities For Federal Money

The White House has asked nine major universities, including MIT, Brown, and the University of Texas, to sign a “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education”. Schools agreeing would commit to the administration’s priorities on admissions, women’s sports, free speech, student discipline, tuition caps, and campus gender policies. Signing would grant priority access to federal grants and White House events, while compliance would be monitored by the Justice Department. Institutions could choose alternative policies if they forego federal benefits.
